The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, on Monday took delivery of some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donated by the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) to the State Government in support of its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Receiving the donated PPE from the Group General Manager, Operations of WAPCo, Mr. Saminu Jibrin on behalf of the State Government, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, commended the organisation for its thoughtfulness and kind gesture.
She emphasised that the collective efforts of everyone are needed to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State, adding that the meaningful support and assistance from public-spirited corporate organisations will go a long way in flattening the curve of the pandemic.
Dr, Fasawe, therefore, urged other corporate bodies and individuals in the State to emulate the gesture of WAPCo as well as other companies that have identified and supported the Lagos State government in its onerous task to curb the spread of the Coronavirus disease in Lagos.
Earlier, Mr. Saminu Jibrin, the Group GM of Operations, WAPCo, who presented the items on behalf of the organisation, disclosed that the gesture was in line with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) of the company.
In his words “As a corporate organisation that is sensitive to our operating environment, we have decided to contribute these items as a token to the government towards the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic and also as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to residents of this State”.
Jibrin said the donated items, which he valued at N15 Million, included Face Masks, Surgical Gloves and Caps, Non-contact Thermometers, Shoe Covers, Hand Sanitisers and Protective Eye Shields amongst others.
