- Says Badmouthing PDP Era Amounts to Self-mockery
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kwara state has berated the ruling All Progressive Congress APC and its government in the state for their continued reeling out fabricated data with no known sources in a bid to hoodwink the people of Kwara.
The PDP in a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyments), said instead of the APC to be gloating in ignorance, the party should be remorseful over the disgraceful conduct of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq at UNGA, where he was quoted reeling out unexisting statistic to fake his administration performance in education before some international envoys.
The PDP holds that the Governor’s claims at UNGA, if not quickly debunked as graciously done by the Party, are capable of labeling all Kwarans as potential liars before the international community especially when those wild claims are cross-checked from available records.
We insist that the education sector, just like other facets of governance in Kwara has suffered serious lackluster policy and infertile ideas since 2019. We also like to remind the APC that from the UNESCO report on education which was published by the World Bank in 2022, it was clearly stated that Kwara state figure for out-of-school children was pegged at 141,325 compared to the earlier 84,247 in 2018, an increment of about 68% barely three years of Abdulrahman in office. By implication, more than fifty-seven thousand Kwara children dropped out of school in the period under review.
The APC is taking Kwarans for fools in her attempts to underrate the PDP administration’s contributions to Kwara education development. A ruling party whose government is operating without any clear-cut education policy lacks the moral right to question the PDP under whose administration the “Every Child Count” policy was introduced, a policy that has now been adopted by the Nigerian government and many states of the federation.
The PDP government which created the prestigious Kwara State University Malete, Aviation College, IVTEC, Ajase-ipo, those institutions that have trained, graduated, and even provided employment platforms for many APC leaders today will not stoop so low to be exchanging banters with the Abdulrahman government who is now benefiting from our administration’s standing legacies.
We wish to inform the APC that the era of joining them to drag the issue of diversion of UBEC funds is gone, should they discover any missing funds from SUBEB and link to any officials of the past administration, we advise them to approach the court to retrieve such money and also punish the culprits instead of throwing tantrums on media spaces.
As a responsible Party, we wish to remind Alhaji Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro, that he remains unfit to join other mischievous APC members in badmouthing the PDP regime in Kwara state under whose leadership he served as council chairman of Offa LG in 2003. While we sympathize with him for the sordid job given him to continue cooking lies against the PDP and its leadership, we enjoined him to watch his back as such action amounts to a self-indictment of his tenure as chairman. For Alhaji Aro to claim the PDP regime was unproductive means his tenure as Offa LG chairman under the PDP platform was unproductive and a waste of taxpayers’ money.
The people of Offa, therefore, should hold Aro accountable for any wasted funds belonging to the local government under his watch.
