Adamawa State Executive Council approves N1.3Bn contract variation for grade interchange

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Monday has presided over Executive Council Meeting in the council chamber Government House yola.

The Council approved N1.3b contract variation for the design and construction of grade interchange and underpass at the former Police Roundabout in Yola.

The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba Pella disclosed this immediately after the council meeting.

Dr. Garba revealed that the initial contract sum of the project awarded in July 2020 was N5.8b out of which the Government has paid the contractor N4.5b in which the work has reached 90% completion.

He stated that the reasons amidst which the variation was approved are to include high cost of building materials, installation of CCTV cameras, high cost of compensation, wire fencing to avert deface of the place among others.

Dr Garba further revealed that the council had also approved the hosting of the 44th National Council On Establishment by Adamawa State in the 4th quarter of 2022.

Also, the Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Hon. Adamu Atiku Abubakar acclaimed fulfilment and satisfaction with the quality of the work and stated that with the variation approved, the project will be completed in the next two months.
