The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to prioritised qualitative and affordable healthcare for its people.
The Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, stated this at the official commissioning of telemedicine practice and 20-bed private specialist hospital in Ilorin today. He said that having accorded the health sector needed attention, the government will soon offer a free health insurance scheme for 10,000 indigent Kwarans to deepen access to qualitative healthcare.
The Deputy Governor said the administration is keen on telemedicine because it would deepen the people’s access to quality healthcare delivery regardless of location. He said the innovation is a step in the right direction as technology is redefining the world and reshaping how we live.
Mr Alabi said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration had improved Kwara State’s health sector ranking within a short time by prioritising the sector because health is vital to societal well-being.
He assured Maxi Health Multi specialist Hospital, and its Partner, Apollo of government’s support. The hospital’s opening is a plus in the drive for quality healthcare service delivery to the people of Kwara.
Earlier, the President, Apollo Group of Hospitals, India, Dr Hariprasad said the partnership would train Kwara health workers in various fields of medicine through Maxihealth Multi-Specialist Hospital.
The Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maxihealth Multi-Specialist Hospital, Dr Amdalat Kuranga said the partnership is to accord patients seeking other medical options access to over 3,000 specialists of international repute virtually before travelling where necessary and also have unlimited follow-ups which is the most critical aspect of clinical services.
Dr Kuranga added that periodic surgeries by Apollo Hospital Surgeon, Medical Camps by the hospital specialists, and also organising training locally and internationally for Health workers are parts of the benefits from the collaboration. She appreciated the Government for providing a conducive atmosphere for the people of Kwara in the area of basic amenities and other support.
