In a bid to strengthen collaboration and review ongoing development initiatives as well as give better chances to the youth in Nigeria’s agriculture and food sectors, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele, received a high-level delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in his office today.
The meeting provided a platform for both parties to discuss ways of enhancing their partnership and aligning efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
Comrade Olawande commended the FAO for its impactful programmes in Nigeria, highlighting the organization’s contributions to climate-smart agriculture, livestock development, early warning systems, food security analysis, and policy formulation.
The Minister emphasized the need for continued collaboration to achieve shared development goals, assuring the delegation of the Federal Government’s unwavering support and commitment to sustaining the partnership.
“We recognize the positive impact of FAO-supported programmes and are committed to working together to drive meaningful development in Nigeria’s agriculture and food sectors,” he said.
The FAO delegation expressed their appreciation for the Minister’s time and commitment to the partnership, noting that the meeting marked an important step towards consolidating gains and exploring new areas of collaboration.
