APC UK to Nigerians: Patience, Not Protest

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Diaspora Chapters urges Nigerians to be patient with the government and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, instead of responding to calls for protests.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, APC UK Chapter/APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, Hon. Tunde Doherty.

“Nigeria has faced significant challenges in the past, including corrupt leadership, widespread looting, insecurity, and various other social issues, exacerbated by the global pandemic and conflicts such as the Ukraine-Russia war and the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In his first year, President Tinubu initiated numerous reforms to revitalize the nation and bring integrity to governance. With the Supreme Court’s judgment on local government autonomy, governance is now reaching grassroots levels.

The establishment of the Livestock Ministry aims to resolve herders-farmers conflicts, enhancing food production. The government is also supporting the private sector to improve the ease of doing business and investing in a multimodal transportation system to reduce costs following the removal of fuel subsidies.

Investments in the mining and power sectors are also underway.

Nigerians need to exercise patience for these efforts to yield results. Global inflation and hunger affect even the strongest economies. Protests in Nigeria historically set the country back, leading to property destruction and loss of life, which exacerbate existing problems.

Let us protect what we have built and say no to protests initiated by anonymous individuals”.
