President Bola Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), awaiting confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. The announcement was made through a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday.
Dr. Bello brings over 25 years of diverse experience in consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia to his new role. Tinubu expressed confidence that Dr. Bello, with his extensive professional background, will uphold integrity and guide the Bureau in fulfilling its mandate of ensuring high standards of public morality and accountability in government affairs.
With qualifications including an MSc in Forensic Accounting, BSc in Applied Accounting, BTech. in Computer Science, and certifications as a Fraud Examiner and Anti-money Laundering Specialist, Dr. Bello’s expertise spans various sectors. His tenure in banking, law enforcement focusing on fraud and money laundering investigations, and leadership roles in e-payment companies showcase his breadth of knowledge and capabilities.
Additionally, Dr. Bello serves as an Assistant Professor at the Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, Newcastle, further highlighting his academic prowess and commitment to excellence.
