A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday, March 3, as suspected herdsmen launched a deadly attack on farmers in Udedeku community, Maav-Ya, Mkoonmom district, Benue state. According to eyewitness Terlumen Kwaghbee, the armed herdsmen ambushed the community, targeting farmers who had just returned from Sunday morning church service. The attack resulted in the tragic deaths of five individuals, with many others sustaining injuries and several houses set ablaze.
Investigations by The Nation revealed a long-standing occupation of Moon district and surrounding areas by suspected Fulani herdsmen for over a decade. The recurring violence in the region has instilled fear and insecurity among the local residents.

He also appealed for urgent intervention to provide relief and support to displaced residents currently residing in IDP camps.
