Saraki felicitates with newly turbaned Tafida of Ilorin, lauds Emir

The President of the 8th Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Alhaji Kawu Baraje as he is turbaned as the Tafida of Ilorin Emirate on Friday, February 18th, 2022.

Baraje is being turbaned by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Zulu Gambari CFR, at the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Saraki, who joins eminent Nigerians in Kwara and across the country, to the august ceremony, specially welcomed Baraje to the prestigious rank of Ilorin descendants.

In a statement by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate also congratulated the Emir for the successful traditional ceremony and lauded the highly respected monarch for identifying Baraje, as worthy of the position.

While stating that the traditional honour is well deserved, he described the former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as a patriotic, bonafide and committed son of the Emirate who has contributed immensely to the uplift of the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara and Nigeria at large.

The statement read, “As you attain this enviable position today, I felicitate with you and your family as well as the Ilorin Emirate.

“Your conferment as the Tafida of Ilorin, the second personality to be honoured in the Ilorin Emirate, underscores your importance having contributed your quota as a seasoned educationist, administrator, and astute political figure.

“This is an indication of how much you are valued by the Emirate and we do hope you continue to use your personality and new office towards the advancement of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.”

Saraki prayed to God to grant the new Tafida of Ilorin, the life, sound health and wisdom to excel in the new task.

Also present at the colourful occasion were the former Governor of Kwara, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed (Maigida), former Governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Dakwambo, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, Senator Dino Malaye, the Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman and former Speaker KWHA, Rt Hon. Ali Ahmad.

Others include former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, former Nigeria Ambassador to Japan, Prof. Yisa Gana, Hon Gbenga Makanjuola, Hon. Aliyu Ahman Pategi, National Chairman, PDP Board of Trustee, Senator Walli Jibril, PDP National Legal Adviser, Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN, and former DG of Governor’s Forum, Chief Osaro Onaiwu among others.
