Bauchi State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has received in audience the Bauchi State chapter of the Nigerian Legion for the 2022 Armed Forces emblem and appeal fund.
Speaking, the Governor called on Nigerians to pay attribute and support families the fallen heroes who fought for the unity and progress of Nigeria adding his administration will empower the widows and support their children.
According to Governor Bala it is not enough for the Nigerian Legion to receive contributions once every year saying that it is a collective responsibility to cater for their welfare.
He added that the State Government under his watch will ensure comfort of the legionnaires and their families by carrying them along in poverty alleviation schemes in his quest to providing them succour.
Governor Bala used the medium to call on Nigerians, private sectors as well as well-to-do individuals to contribute to the patriotic and courageous Nigerians in a sustainable manner.
He narrated the historic antecedent of the event adding that Nigeria has contributed to the promotion of peace in the West Africa and other parts of the world.
Governor Bala has during the interaction session made a personal donation of 1.5 million to the Legion and disclosed the State Government’s contribution of over ten million Naira, an apartment to be used as office, vehicle among others.
He called on the Nigerian Legion to make a judicious use of the contributions gathered while appreciating the Nigerian Army for the continuous support it gives to Bauchi State.
Earlier, the Bauchi State chapter of the Nigerian Legion has pledged to continue to support the State Government and commended Governor Bala for his welfare and support.
