Ekiti government terminates road contract, demands refund

The Ekiti State Government has terminated the rehabilitation of Ilupeju-Ire Road, which was awarded to Messers Time Building & Construction Company for abandonment since 2016.

The Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Aare ‘Muyiwa Olumilua, made this known while briefing journalists on the outcome of the Ekiti State Executive Council meeting in his office in Ado Ekiti.

Olumilua explained that the construction company was to refund N47, 807, 873. 80 for abandoning the project.

The Commissioner said, “The State Government has approved the rehabilitation of Ilupeju-Ire-Igbemo-Ijan road, to the tune of over N2 billion, and to be completed within one year. The Executive Council has also considered the recommendations of the white paper on the reports of the Honourable Justice Babajide Aladejana Chieftaincy Review Commission 2019.

“The State Government also awarded the re-construction of Agbado-Ode-Isinbode-Omuo road, to gulp over N3 billion and to be completed within 18 months. The rehabilitation of the Aramoko-Erinjiyan-Ikogosi road has been reviewed upward from over N1.167 billion to over N1.625 billion.
