COVID-19: BEDC donates palliative items to Ondo government

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) on Friday, April 17, 2020 donated 1,500 bags of 5kg rice and 1,000 cartons of indomie noodles as part of its contributions to the government’s efforts to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the people.

The Chief State Head of the BEDC, Mrs. Kunbi Labiyi, who handed the items over to the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, said aside the donation, the organisation will also be ensuring that the various government established Covid-19 centers and related hospitals have good power supply of up to 24 hours.

She said the move has already commenced at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), along Igbatoro Road, Akure, adding that the BEDC also intends to look at other supports that can be rendered in ensuring that some of the vehincles and ambulances at the hospital are fully operational.

In his response, Governor Akeredolu appreciated the BEDC for its corporate responsibility and philanthropic contribution.

The Governor said the items donated will be added to the first round of the ongoing distribution of the food palliative across the various local government areas in the state.

Arakunrin Akeredolu further assured the people of the state that there will be more rounds of the distribution of palliatives across the state as the government gets more donations and purchase more items.
